> Add selected tags to contacts who reach a Journey step.

# Add tag

Use **Add tag** to add selected tags to contacts who reach this step in a Journey.

Tags can help you organize contacts and identify the follow-up path they have completed.

## Add tags to a Journey step

1. Add an **Add tag** component to the Journey.
2. Select the tags you want to add.
3. Connect the component to the preceding and following steps.

For example, you can add a tag after a contact replies to a template message, or after a contact completes a follow-up flow.
